The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District, selected Bullock Tice Associates to provide design services for the SOF (Special Operations Forces) AvFID (Aviation Foreign Internal Defense) operations and maintenance facilities at Duke Field at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida. The project consisted of a new, two-story squad operations facility, a new wash rack maintenance facility, and renovation of four existing maintenance facilities (Buildings 3115, 3117, 3044 and 3086).
Bullock Tice Associates asked Fisher Engineering, Inc. (FEI) to provide fire protection engineering services related to the development of the project’s life safety plans, as well as to design the interior fire sprinkler and fire alarm/mass notification systems. All fire protection systems—including the fire sprinkler systems, fire alarm systems, and mass notification systems—were required to be designed to penetrate the Secure Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIF). FEI also provided construction period services, including shop submittal reviews, in-progress installation reviews, and a final site review.
