University Club on Frey is a five-building, 55,000-square foot apartment complex near Kennesaw State University in Kennesaw, Georgia. Each of the five residential buildings is four stories high and provides 114 four-bedroom living units. A two-story community center and maintenance facility are also included in the complex. Other amenities include a fitness center, a computer center, a media room, and a resort-style swimming pool with a private sundeck.
Todd & Associates provided architecture and engineering services for this project and asked Fisher Engineering, Inc. (FEI) to perform documents review and code research services, as well as to develop preliminary findings and recommendations based on the information gathered. Specifically, FEI developed code equivalency proposals for the Cobb County fire marshal’s office related to an open, interior stair; standpipe locations; and protection of exterior openings. The fire marshal accepted the proposals, allowing the facility to be built as the architect intended.
